  • Cillian – My fellow companions that did it last year.
  • Leo – I found out about the competition from my school’s rocketry club.
  • Louis – Older pupils at our school did it last year.

What have you enjoyed most about the UKROC project?

  • Alex – Meeting rocketeers from other teams and working through problems in the design process.
  • Arthur – Building and designing the rockets and using tools like 3D printer and the vinyl cutter, and working in a team to design innovative solutions to problems.
  • Cillian – The foil tape incident.
  • Leo – Making the parts to build the rocket, and the initial design process of the rocket.
  • Louis – Designing the nose cone to protect the egg.

Would you encourage other teams to enter the competition?

  • Alex – Absolutely, it’s an excellent chance to build problem solving and physics ability.
  • Arthur – Yes, absolutely. It’s a great experience and is really rewarding when your rocket launches successfully, and although it takes lots of time it’s totally worth it.
  • Cillian – Yes, absolutely, it is an incredibly fun journey.
  • Leo – Yes. I think that it is very fun, and that it is a great way to learn more about rockets.

Why did your school/club want to get involved in UKROC?

  • Alex – Our school wanted to get involved with UKROC because it helped set a project for our rocketry society.
  • Arthur – We already did a lot of rocketry in the past and a competition seemed to be a good, fun next step.
  • Cillian – Our school wanted to get involved because we have an active rocketry society. I blindly followed my fellow companions into doing this.
  • Leo – My school wanted to get involved because it is a interesting competition that allows us to learn more about rockets, and test our design skills.
  • Louis – We’ve done a lot of rocketry in school and competitions seemed like the next step.

What does the teacher/club leader think about UKROC?

  • Arthur – He loves it.
  • Leo – They think UKROC is an excellent competition, that lets students explore rocket science while also having fun.
