UKROC 2021 - register your interest

Following the cancellation of the UK Youth Rocketry (UKRoC) Challenge in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic we hope to hold the competition in 2021 providing pandemic conditions and venues allow.  On that basis, we are keen to hear if you would be interested in taking part in the competition with one or more teams.

What is rocketry?

The challenge is aimed at students aged 11 – 18 from any secondary schools, colleges, educational facilities or youth groups to design, build and launch a model rocket with a fragile payload. The rocket must reach a set altitude with specific total flight duration, using specified rocket kit and must adhere to the specific set rules.

The competition takes place across the country and the final is an international competition where our national winners compete against teams from France and America.

The competition is fully supported by the aviation and rocketry industry. In 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 Al Worden and industry representatives from Lockheed Martin UK and Thales Alenia Space attended the International Final – Tim Peake presented the awards to all winners in 2016 and 2018.

Teams will be fully supported through every step of the competition. We have a whole range of resource materials including webinars, manuals, risk assessments and more.
